Just wanted to share this little
opinion piece from my local college paper.
Just as there was no war on drugs, there is no war on terror. They're just names given to socio-ideological agendas to make them seem more important. Although the Sept. 11 attacks placed a renewed -- and incredibly justified -- emphasis on national security, the war on terror is not the most important issue in this year's crucial battle for the White House.
I have never heard it put this way before. But I think this guy is onto something. Just like the war on drugs that has wasted millions of dollars and ruined thousands of lives was used in the 1980's, the never ending war on terror is being used to scare people to the poles. And just like the war on drugs it will never end.
Just wanted to throw this out there and see what ya'll thought about it.
